What is vitiligo?

Vitiligo is a systemic autoimmune disease, its main symptom is the loss of pigmentation in different areas of the skin. This occurs when the cells responsible for generating melanin (a compound that gives color to the skin and hair) die and white spots appear. This disease usually affects a large number of the population and can appear at any age.
